First week of split school

Once again we find ourselves trying to maneuver through third grade reading and math while holding down full time jobs. As difficult it is on us, this seems to be even more difficult and unfair to Bella. Bella is a very social little girl, loves her school, loves her teacher and thrives with social interaction. I worry that the damage being done to her socially, mentally and the lack of a good education (I fully admit I suck as a teacher) will in the end, be more damaging than COVID-19. Now don’t come at me with stats about kids and COVID because I can throw stats right back at you to prove otherwise. My point is the two best people in the world to know Bella’s needs are her mother and father and I hope you feel the same about your child.

While applaud the districts efforts to provide a safe environment, the rules to me are a bit ridiculous and random. The original plan to have the parents decide (imagine that) what was best for their child , remote learning or full time school was the best option.

To those moms or dads that do not have to juggle full time careers while educating their child(ren) I applaud you for making that choice. Because in the end, that’s what it is, “a choice”. Choices are something we seem to getting less and less of these days!

On a fun note Bella did get have a good time this week attending the McWane Center with, as she calls them, her Twins. Thank you ladies(you know who you are) you have been a great help!

SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!

I’m a 53 year old husband, father of an eight year old little girl and cancer survivor (I put that last because I refuse to let cancer define who I am) My goal for this blog is to share with everyone what it’s like to be raising an 8 year old girl in today’s world. I also hope to provide a bit of entertainment on subjects such as sports, food, travel and life in general!
